Annual Community BBQ’s

Kenora: Every year Kenora hosts a community BBQ to raise money for Triple P.L.A.Y. This organization helps children in the area, who without the help financially or with equipment, wouldn’t be able to participate in leisure activities. For more information on Triple P.L.A.Y., click here

Dryden: Every year Dryden picks a new charity to sponsor during their annual charity BBQ. They enjoy helping out as many causes as they can. A few charities who they have helped in the past are the Alzheimer’s Society, Patricia Gardens, etc.

Sioux Lookout: Every year Sioux Lookout puts on an “Old Fashioned Picnic” at the Sioux Lookout Museum during their annual Blueberry Festival! All proceeds are then donated back to the Museum. For more information, click here.

Red Lake: Every year Red Lake holds an annual customer appreciation BBQ outside their office to thank their customers and welcome everyone to Red Lake’s Norseman Floatplane Festival! For more information, click here.

Community Involvement

Kenora Dragon Boat Festival: Annual Corporate Sponsor. Every year The Standard puts up a booth to help raise additional funds for Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation. Various booth activities include cake-roulette, jelly bean counting, etc. For more information click here.

Kenora Miracle Marathon: Every year The Standard teams up to donate pantry items to the Salvation Army. Interoffice contests take place to raise money as well to donate to this worthy cause. For more information click here.

Dryden Easter Food Drive: Every year The Standard challenges local businesses to see who can collect the most canned goods for the month of March. All food items are donated to the local food bank.

Dryden Christmas Cheer: Every year The Standard adopts two families during Christmas. They support the families by purchasing food and gifts to help bring the joy of the season home during the holidays.

Red Lake Celebrity Bagging: Every year The Standard staff helps bag groceries to raise money for the Hospital Foundation. All grocery purchases are rounded up and donated back to the hospital. For more information click here.
